Matthew Milazzo, Deputy Director of the US Presidential Blue Ribbon Commission, spoke at the ANS Connecticut Section Speaker Meeting on October 11th, 2011. His presentation, entitled “Overview of the Draft Report of the Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future” is available here.
The Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future was created by the Secretary of Energy at the direction of the President and has conducted a comprehensive review of U.S. policies for managing the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle and is recommending a new strategy. This discussion will cover the 7 key focus areas of the BRC’s recommendations as well as some additional findings, and will highlight the Commission’s efforts to date and their work remaining prior to the release of the final recommendations. The Deputy Director will be speaking to us on the eve of the Commission’s high level radioactive waste policy public meeting on October 12 in Boston to solicit feedback on the draft report.
