ANS Connecticut Section Speaker Meeting Announcement for April 3rd, 2013

The Fukushima Lady

A Personal Story of Media Communication During the Fukushima Crisis

Please join us in welcoming Margaret Harding who will speak at the next American Nuclear Society Connecticut Section Dinner Meeting on Wednesday, April 3rd 2013.  This talk will present how and why Margaret Harding became one of the key ANS spokespersons during the Fukushima crisis.  She will discuss how the media functions in a crisis, how the industry’s responses helped (and hurt) public perceptions.  Finally, she will cover how the event is impacting the industry – some myths and some truths.

About the speaker:

Margaret Harding has 30 years of experience in the nuclear industry – she spent many of those years at GE Nuclear Energy, departing as Vice President – Engineering Quality.  She’s now a consultant to the nuclear power industry where she advises clients on a wide variety of opportunities and issues, including design and licensing, economic evaluations, impacts of Fukushima, and quality programs.

Margaret Harding received the American Nuclear Society (ANS) Special Award for excellence in media and communications at ANS’ annual meeting in Chicago in June of 2012.

We will be meeting at the Nutmeg Restaurant at 297 South Main Street, East Windsor, CT at 6PM.  All of the details are provided this flyer:  20130403 Speaker Meeting Announcement
